When you pick up a key from a vending machine at a car rental, auto repair shop, or Airbnb, it's often Sharebox that's behind it. The Norwegian company specializes in digital key exchange — and behind the robust steel structures that ensure user-friendly and assured access, TRECO stands as a production partner.
As Sharebox needed to scale from idea to industrial volume and certified security, TRECO was chosen as a partner to bring the vision to life.
From software to world-class safe deposit box
Sharebox has grown to be a leading global supplier and today delivers solutions to over 25 countries across 3 continents.
The collaboration began in 2018 with the production of Sharebox's first physical devices. Since then, the collaboration has grown in scope and ambition — with the S18 as the flagship: an advanced safety box with 18 cabinets and a robust steel structure, developed to achieve EN 1143-1:2019 certification - the most stringent key box standard in Europe.
The certification was obtained after tests conducted by RISE in Sweden and makes the S18 the only key box on the market with this approval.
TRECO has been responsible for:
Complete production and assembly: From steelworking to electrical installation and software integration
Quality control and certification: Including cooperation with RISE on testing and approval
Dedicated production: A separate line in Aalestrup ensures volume, quality and scalability
Production with a focus on safety and scalability
The safety box weighs 355 kg, has IP65 protection against wind and weather — and is designed to withstand physical attack. Everything is assembled at TRECO, where specially trained employees ensure high finish and operational stability — with full control over every detail.
In parallel, special versions are developed in close collaboration with Sharebox — with the possibility of customizing colors, displays and functionality.
